Trial Adoption Period (TAP)

We want to make sure that your potential new pet adjusts well to your home and their transition is as stress free and comfortable as possible.  After deciding on a pug you are interested in adopting,  we come to your home to do a safety check and make sure the environment is good for the dog you choose.  After the home inspection, you may be given the opportunity to meet the dog and get a three day Trial Adoption Period (TAP) with the pug. This allows you to see the dog's demeanor, behavior, and personality in your home environment and allow for some time for him to settle in acclimate to your home and interact with your family and other pets before the actual adoption originates.  The pugs' anxiety when placed in a new environment can cause behaviors that are not common or regular for the pug, so at your request the TAP may be extended so you - as the potential adoptive parent - can work with the pug on his downfalls.

At the beginning of your TAP, you will sign the Adoption Contract, which is contingent upon your successful completion of the TAP.  If you choose to adopt, there is a non-refundable and non-negotiable donation of $200 due to cover the cost of rescuing the dog and veterinary expenses for our rescue pugs.  This donation should be paid directly to the veterinarian's office we partner with for rescue pug care and wellness.  You will get the details on the clinic after the adoption has been approved by a Hug A Pug AZ Representative.
You may call and make a credit card donation over the phone, stop in to the clinic in person, or mail them a check.

After your payment clears and we receive the receipt from the vet, we will issue your official Adoption Certificate and ownership of the pug will be transferred to you.  In any case, Hug A Pug AZ Rescue & Adoption Group reserves the right to reclaim the animal if for ANY reason you decide not to keep him in your home.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
